Another Example of the Olympics ‘Waste Of Money’ 2012

The new olympic logo costing £400,000 is another example of a company ripping of the government. I much prefer the examples people have posted on the bbc website. I would have thought they would have had a Blue Peter competition for it.

Wogan discrace

Saw this article in the Metro this morning.

I hate Wogan on these charity shows, always begging the UK public to give their cash for good causes, yet he gets paid £10,000 for his work or £1,477 an hour as the Express quotes it. I know he was paid by the beeb and not the charity, but he should have donated it all to charity. I don’t particularly like Fearne Cotton or Natasha Kaplinsky but at least they didn’t take any money for it.

I gave money last year to children in need, although after this i will refuse to do so again until they get rid of Wogan!

As a side note, I’ve turned off comments for the moment till I upgrade to WordPress 2 as I’ve been getting loads of spam comments recently.

Ashes Tickets Joke

What a farce the ashes ticket sale was for sydney!

I tried the site at 11.45pm and got on, but it said my session would expire in 10 minutes - and as the tickets go on sale at midnight i closed my session and waited until about 5 to to try again. I eventually got back in at 00:03, I had one firefox and one explorer session on my pc, and my mum was doing the same on my laptop next to me. I got in first and tried for 4 tickets for the 1st day - all sold out, i tried 2 and then 1 for the first day - all sold out. I preceded to do the same for all other days and got the same result. In essence there were no tickets available. I was trying the cheap seats to start with, but also tried the “Best available option”, again to no available. Even when it said “Single Seats only” there were none available.

Hopefully the ECB will not let any aussies in the UK, let alone the test matches for the next home ashes.

Get Jones Out

Opinions are rising against Geraint Jones as England’s wicket keeper.

Lets hope he drops a few more catches

Nicholas Is Back on tv

Channel 5 are showing highlights of the cricket, that’s great except Mark Nicholas is hosting it.

Luckily I can watch it on sky, although I hate there 2/3 hour highlights show - its too long.

Central Trains, Newport Nazis

I went to see Stephen Lee take on Anthony Hamilton in the Welsh Open on Saturday. I’m not a big Rugby fan, but knew to check to see there were no 6 Nations matches at Cardiff - I didn’t know there would be 2 Powergen cup matches their until a few days before. So what to central trains do, put on a 2 carriage train that was packed at Birmingham with NO room at all.

When we were there, I took a look on my phone during a 5 minute frame interval to look at the football scores - then some welsh nazi guard comes out to tell me off - but allows his welsh friends to eat and drink in an arena that states “No food or drink allowed”.

Milliondollarhomepage Comments

It seems it wasn’t just word of mouth that made milliondollarhomepage.com so popular, but the use of a $7000/month PR agent. Who know the truth? Who cares?

Well done to alex for, almost, reaching 1,000,000 pixels sold and becoming an American Millionaire. Personally I think it’s all pointless but people will spend money on anything nowadays.

Almost had an X-Box 360

I almost got an X-Box 360. Argos has it in stock on their website for home-delivery, and when I entered my address details and it confirmed it was in stock i thought great! - unfortunately after entering my card details it then said out of stock - despite it still saying in-stock on the home page. Admittedly I was going to sell it on eBay for a profit, but so do most people who get one.

So as usual the argos website is just there to temp you to buy other stuff.

On a side note, i bought a creative zen plus 1GB from argos the other day for £50 (plus free £5 voucher), and then sold it for £80 on eBay - if only they had 10 in stock in my local argos :) . It’s now gone back up to £90 on argos, so i bet they have loads in stock

Amazon.co.uk Xbox 360 Pre-orders

Nice to see amazon are still treating people so badly. I ordered a book 3 weeks ago that was ‘guaranteed’ delivery by christmas - they now say it will be delivered in jan 2006 - i think i’ll take my business elsewhere. (play.com, dvd.co.uk to name a few). I for one didn’t want a xbox 360 but i’m glad i didn’t order from amazon. Someone near where I live queued up at 7am on the release day and got one from our local currys - shows how easy it was to get one (if you were lucky).

Trainline/Qjump credit card surchage disgrace

Qjump have now implemented Trainlines 2% surcharge on all bookings, you can still use the trainline branded stores with no surcharge at present - but I expect this will change soon:
