What a farce the ashes ticket sale was for sydney!
I tried the site at 11.45pm and got on, but it said my session would expire in 10 minutes - and as the tickets go on sale at midnight i closed my session and waited until about 5 to to try again. I eventually got back in at 00:03, I had one firefox and one explorer session on my pc, and my mum was doing the same on my laptop next to me. I got in first and tried for 4 tickets for the 1st day - all sold out, i tried 2 and then 1 for the first day - all sold out. I preceded to do the same for all other days and got the same result. In essence there were no tickets available. I was trying the cheap seats to start with, but also tried the “Best available option”, again to no available. Even when it said “Single Seats only” there were none available.
Hopefully the ECB will not let any aussies in the UK, let alone the test matches for the next home ashes.

Opinions are rising against Geraint Jones as England’s wicket keeper.
Lets hope he drops a few more catches
BBC article
Channel 5 are showing highlights of the cricket, that’s great except Mark Nicholas is hosting it.
Luckily I can watch it on sky, although I hate there 2/3 hour highlights show - its too long.
Cricket on Five
Cricket on Sky Sports
Its no wonder the world 11 did so bad, they were too busy thinking what to spend their £14k match fee on.
The aussies of course had to earn some money after they lost the ashes so concentrated a bit more. Together with the one-day matches, ricky ponting earned around £75k.
Guardian Unlimited Sport | Cricket | Cricket: Super series flops in double quick time
The gods have spoken,
from the article it suggests that Nicholas isn’t with sky either. Hurrah!
Cricinfo - Nicholas dropped from Channel Nine team
Please get rid of Mark Nicholas off the TV. It was the only reason I was glad the ashes were over, but now he’s back on Channel 9 for the super series with his usual comments.
BBC SPORT | Cricket | Richie’s final delivery
It’ll certainly be different without richie doing commentary on UK tv. Hopefully he can still do channel 9 coverage when the aussies are on sky.
Also good to see Jimmy Anderson recalled back to the test sqaud, whether he’ll get a game or not is another matter.
Also good news about using technology in umpiring decisions. To be fair the aussies seem to have had the worst of it this series, but who cares if we win!
Plus hopefully something will come of this. Lets hope C4 or the BBC can get cricket back. We don’t want sky having it all.
